Welcome to Le Leche League of Utah County!

Welcome to Le Leche League of Utah County! We are happy you have chosen to breastfeed and would like to help you make this breastfeeding experience an easy transition.

Have you ever heard: "You are always feeding that baby! Maybe you don't make enough milk?"
Baby's Stomach Size:
The size of a full-term (40 wk.) newborn's stomach is the size of a marble at birth.
At three days old, the baby's stomach has grown to the size of a shooter marble.
At one week old, your baby's stomach is the size of a ping pong ball!
Other interesting facts:
Unlike an adult stomach, an infant's stomach is not believed to stretch. Small amounts frequently are ideal. Colostrum is measures in teaspoons, not ounces. It is protein rich and has a laxative effect to help dispel miconium after birth. It is the perfect first substance to coat the stomach and linings of the digestive system.

Human babies are among the most vulnerable of all mammals after birth. They have a strong need to be near their mothers.
